- Subject to penalty for early withdrawal
The following penalty may be charged to your certificate of deposit or individual retirement account if you withdraw any principal before the maturity date:
- For deposits with original maturities of less than one month, the penalty will be the forfeiture of simple interest that could have been earned on the amount withdrawn had the funds remained on deposit until maturity.
- For deposits with original maturities of at least 31 days but less than one year, the penalty will be the forfeiture of 30 days simple interest on the amount withdrawn.
- For deposits with original maturities of one year but less than two years, the penalty will be the forfeiture of 90 days simple interest on the amount withdrawn.
- For deposits with original maturities of two years or more, the penalty will be the forfeiture of 180 days simple interest on the amount withdrawn.
- If sufficient interest has not accrued at the time of withdrawal, principal will be reduced to the extent necessary to meet the required penalty.
- The amount of the penalty will be calculated using the interest rate in effect on your account at the time of withdrawal.
- Early withdrawals made because of the death or the judicially declared incompetence of a depositor will not be penalized.
- Early withdrawal penalties may not always apply to IRA accounts. See your IRA account literature for details.
